Biochar Making

🔥 Biochar Making Program

Turning agricultural waste into clean energy, healthy soil, and climate‑friendly solutions

Our Biochar Making Program empowers registered village societies to produce biochar and syngas using a safe, standardised biomass‑to‑energy system. Every society must follow our unique design and approved process, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance.

This project supports households, agriculture, and the environment by converting biomass into:

  • Syngas (an alternative to LPG for cooking and heating)

  • Electricity (when connected to a generator)

  • Biochar (a powerful soil‑regenerating material)

Any registered society in Sri Lanka can participate, provided they follow the correct steps and maintain transparency throughout the project.

📋 Instructions for Village Societies (Step‑by‑Step)

1. Confirm Your Eligibility

Your society must be:

  • Registered under the Government of Sri Lanka

  • Able to provide valid registration documents

  • Willing to follow our standard biochar system design

  • Committed to transparency and safe operation

No university or government partner is required for this project — any registered society can join.

2. Understand the Technology

Your society will receive:

  • A biomass‑to‑hydrogen / syngas kit

  • A biochar production chamber

  • A safety and operation manual

  • Training on correct usage

The system converts:

  • Coconut shells

  • Crop residues

  • Dry leaves

  • Wood chips

  • Agricultural waste

into clean energy and biochar.

3. Prepare a Simple Project Proposal

Your proposal should include:

  • Society name & registration

  • Location

  • Expected biomass sources

  • Community involvement

  • Planned use of syngas (cooking, heating, electricity)

  • Planned use of biochar (soil regeneration, tree planting, nurseries)

We will help refine it if needed.

4. Submit Your Proposal to Us

Once submitted, we will:

  • Review your society’s registration

  • Check your readiness to follow the correct design

  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance

  • Approve your project for donor matching

5. We Find a Donor for Your Project

We connect your society with a verified donor who supports:

  • Clean energy

  • Climate action

  • Soil regeneration

  • Community development

The donor will directly support your society — we do not collect any money.

6. Donor Participation & Transparency

To ensure accountability:

  • Donor must join at least four online meetings

  • All meetings are recorded

  • Society must share progress updates

  • Photos, videos, and field notes must be documented

  • Syngas and biochar output must be recorded

This protects both the donor and the community.

7. Implement the Biochar Project

Your society will:

  • Follow the approved design

  • Operate the system safely

  • Train members

  • Produce syngas and biochar

  • Use biochar for soil regeneration

  • Share updates with the donor

We provide guidance and troubleshooting.

8. Completion & Tax Documentation

After successful completion:

  • Donor receives a tax refund document

  • Society receives a completion certificate

  • Project is published for public transparency

This builds trust and encourages future donors.
