First carbon credit program in Sri Lanka .
“ We believe in individuals: empowering every household in Sri Lanka can make a difference. That is why the Code Blue carbon credit program Project was initiated. Our goal is to mitigate climate issues by starting at the household level, providing solutions and strategic plans to tackle these challenges.”
🌍 Our Mission
We aim to collect donations from wealthier nations to support nature restoration efforts in collaboration with lower-income countries. The key lies in leveraging currency differences and lower labour costs.
💱 Why It Works
Labour expenses in countries like Australia, Canada, the EU, China, and Russia are significantly higher than in nations such as Sri Lanka. Often, the cost of environmental damage surpasses the cost of recovery within the same economy. By utilising currency differentials, we can make restoration more affordable and scalable.
🔍 Ensuring Transparency
To address legitimate concerns about the integrity of these efforts, we’ve developed an app that tracks every step of the restoration process—ensuring accountability, transparency, and trust.
The Way We Monitor
Code Blue App
The monitoring system for this project will use- Mobile App :
To ensure transparency and Integrity
This methodology aims to establish transparency and integrity in the Code Blue Project, preventing issues like "incomplete project" and Money laundering. We used an in-house built (already developed) Android app. It collects all data related to the project. such as the farmer’s location, participant’s name, allocated project type/number of trees planted, the geolocation of each plant (Longitude and Latitude), planted date, and a minimum of two people's reference with a mandatory council officer, along with the land deed/Lot Number.
Prevent Exploitation and Abuse:
The app will identify the project's all data: From registration to initial payment. App will monitor all aspects of geolocation, the type of project and who owns them. such as
Farmer ID/photo: Each farmer/participant needs to take their photo at the project location. It is an essential step, as the app monitors both the farm’s location and its bio. (only used to identify the location and person, no other time app will not track the participant’s personal information)
Before starting/After finishing photo and video: We encourage farmers to use the Facebook community page (Code Blue farmers page) to interact with visual images and videos. This approach minimised abuse in various ways. Also, it will help to motivate other farmers to engage similar project.
Minimum Two reference requirement: Farmers must provide a minimum of 2 references. One of them must be a local Government agent called “Gramesekara” and any other non-family related reference. The Code Blue project's responsibility is to contact the reference before initial payment release.
The app will.
Implement Robust Accounting and Auditing Frameworks: The App will generate a unique Google spreadsheet for each individual farmer. It will establish clear accounting standards and independent auditing frameworks. It ensures accurate individual bio and verification app password, and all other project-related information.
High-Quality, Verified Carbon Credit Projects: It will help us to develop a platform and allocate carbon credits for individual farmers with a higher level of integrity.
Implementing these measures will help address current vulnerabilities in the carbon credit system and prevent farmers from exploiting loopholes, ensuring meaningful climate action and successful project outcomes.
